The State, Court & County Law Libraries (SCCLL) Awards Committee is
seeking nominations for the 2007 O. James Werner Award for Distinguished
Service to Persons with Disabilities. The Werner Award is open to
members of the State, Court & County Law Libraries Special Interest
Section is present triennially at the Annual Meeting to recognize our
colleague(s) for:
* Significant contribution to either serving directly or arranging
for services to be provided to persons with disabilities, or
* For distinctive service by a person with a disability
Among the criteria considered are:
* Recognition by members of the legal or governmental community
the candidate serves
* Significant service directly to persons with disabilities to
improve their access to legal information
The Werner Award honors the career, scholarship and personal character
of O. James Werner, former San Diego County Law Library Director who was
a gifted librarian, prolific writer and active participant in the SCCLL
Special Interest Section of the American Association of Law Libraries.
It was first present in 1998 and two SCCLL members have received this
award since its inception. The previous recipients are Pamela J.
Gregory and Catherine Lemann.
The Committee welcomes and encourages nominations for the 2007 award.
To place a person's name in nomination, please include the following
information:
* Nominee's full name and current address
* Nominee's current and past employment
* A brief narrative explaining why this nominee should be honored,
addressing criteria listed above.
* Name, address, telephone number and email address of the person
offering the nomination
Please send the nomination, via email or in hardcopy, to Rita Dermody,
committee chair. The deadline for all nominations is Friday, March 30.
Hardcopy nominations submitted should be postmarked no later than March
30.
