Has anyone else received unexpected emails from a service/website called
CounselLink? A couple of our attorneys and one of our librarians
started getting these emails yesterday (text of one is pasted below.)
We've never signed up for the service, but it seems to be affiliated
with LexisNexis's new company Examen. (I know that Examen is a company
that acts as a middle man for law firm bills, receiving bills from law
firms, reviewing them for accuracy, then passing them on to clients,
taking a percentage of all money that they find was inaccurately charged
to the firms.)
I can't tell whether these emails stem from our clients using Examen, or
from a phishing scam to get ID information, or from some benevolent
third option. Any ideas?
