I would not normally forward general news to the list, but I thought this one deserved broader distribution. What is sad is that the NY Times refers to the woman who sued McDonald's because she was burnt by hot coffee as if it were a frivilous case. She won that case because the coffee was so hot it created third degree burns over most of her lap and thighs, requiring hospitilization and plastic surgery. Even the Times buys into the business hype too much, but at least they reported this incident below.

Editorial Observer: They Say We Have Too Many Lawsuits? Tell It to Jack Cline
By ADAM COHEN
Everyone knows the story of the woman who sued McDonald's because she was burned by hot coffee. But few people know of the Jack Clines, who have been denied their day in court.
