Thanks very much to the numerous folks who responded! They are
currently out of session - regular session meets March - May, but will
reconvene for a special session in November, following the elections.

Summary of answers here:
-The Florida Legilative Hotline is 1-800-342-1827 or 904-488-4371. They
should be able to help you out.
-This is a fifty state legislative calendar:

<http://www.ncsl.org/programs/legman/about/sess2006.htm>
- I find this site useful
http://www.stateside.com/thefiftystates/sessioncalender2006.shtml - for
this year,
http://www.stateside.com/thefiftystates/sessioncalender2007_08.shtml -
for next year.

-From the Florida Senate and House webpages:

The Legislature meets to elect officers and adopt its rules two weeks
after a general election. This is called the Organization Session. The
Constitution of the State of Florida states: "On the 14th day following
each general election the legislature shall convene for the exclusive
purpose of organization and selection of officers." The Senate President
and House Speaker often appoint committee chairs and members at this
time, thereby allowing work to begin in preparation for the regular
session.

The Legislature meets in regular session on the first Tuesday after the
first Monday in March of each year.

A regular session may last 60 consecutive calendar days, including
Saturdays and Sundays, and may be extended by a three-fifths vote of the
Members in each legislative house.

The Senate will convene on November 21, 2006 for the Organization
Session and again on March 6, 2007 for the 2007 Regular Session.

        Subject: Florida legislature schedule?

This is a silly question, but I am trying to find out when the
Florida legislature is in and out of session? We have alerts set up to
monitor certain things, and haven't received any hits in a couple of
months, so I thought I would check, but it proved to be kind of hard to
quickly determine!

        Can someone enlighten me?

        Thank you!
