Library Associates seeks law librarians with maybe 3 - 6 years of
experience for an exciting position of
Solo Law Librarian
in preeminent global law firm. This is a solo position, supervising
several paraprofessionals located in different offices. The Librarian
oversees three West Coast branch libraries. This is a large,
multinational firm, and these 3 branches have among them nearly 130
attorneys on staff. The position is based in San Francisco and will
report to the head of libraries for the U.S. The Librarian will perform
reference/research, cataloging, electronic services (licensing
agreements and negotiation), maintain the budget, and oversee the happy
functioning of the library for the west coast branches.
Responsibilities
* Participate in region and firm-wide library, and library-related
initiatives and activities, as well as in outside professional
organizations.
* Supervising and training library staff;
* Developing and implementing library services, policies and
procedures;
* Providing research assistance;
* Supervising electronic and print collection development;
* Liaising with regional and office practice groups;
* Marketing library services within the service zone;
* Managing the library budget;
* Participate in regional and firm wide library, and
library-related initiatives and activities, as well as in outside
professional organizations.
* Other duties as required.
Qualifications
* Master's degree in library and information studies or related
field, or equivalent work experience required;
* Must have several years of law firm library experience;
* Experience in providing and overseeing high-quality research
services;
* Ability to work both autonomously and in collaborative
situations.
