My firm is looking at making some much-needed changes/updates to the law library. When this library was originally constructed many years ago, it was built with a large u-shaped reference desk in the center of the library. This reference desk is my office (I'm a solo librarian). It's where I do my work and receive all the mail that comes into the library. As you can imagine, it can get very cluttered with all the boxes, books, papers, files, etc. I'm looking for some advice or suggestions as to how I can convince the powers-that-be that this out-dated reference desk needs to go and be replaced with something more functional. I've never had to do this before, so I'm not sure where to look for redesign ides or what arguments to make, other than "I don't like it," that will be convincing. Specifically, I'm interested in finding our what the current trends are in private law library design, librarian work-spaces, are reference desks a thing of the past, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
