Thanks to Kimberly Adkins, Kelly Devlin, Tom Duggan, Margaret Heath,
Mica Johnson, Karen Mahnk, Cheryl Niemeier, and Sergio Stone for their
suggestions.
Though there doesn't seem to be a current print series that is quite as
thorough as the Price Waterhouse "Doing Business In..." series, the most
highly recommended was the Country Commerce series by the Economist
Intelligence Unit. For more information, see:

Other suggestions include:
If you have not already, try the US site:
http://www.business.gov/topics/research_resources/country_data/index.htm
l they include a number of "Doing Business in" publications - some of
which are online. They are not as complete as the old PW pubs but may be
helpful.. The export end of the US Dept of Trade/Commerce - The Country
profiles sometimes include business data.
Thomson West publishes a "Doing Business in Europe" and "Doing Business
in India". They include the following specifics: Political and Economic
Overview, Investment Climate and Foreign Direct Investment Regime,
Business Entities and Regulatory Framework, Contract and Commercial Law,
Land Law, Labour and Nationality Laws, Intellectual Property, Banking,
Finance and Credit, The Tax System, Civil Litigation and the Court
System, and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
I know that Kogan/ GMB Publishing has a "doing business" series. Look
for titles by authors Roderick Millar or Marat Terterov
Lex Mundi has written some guides. See
http://www.lexmundi.com/lexmundi/Guides_to_Doing_Business1.asp
CSC has a fifty-state survey book that is supposed to help for the U.S.
questions. We bought it but I haven't used it myself yet.
In addition, I've come across quite a few online guides, most available
for free:

Finally, for those of you who are really attached to the PWC guides, a
few of them are updated and available on the web. If you have a
specific country in mind, you can start at http://www.pwc.com/
<http://www.pwc.com/> and choose the country from the drop-down box at
the top of the page to see if there is a guide on their publications
page (Ukraine is one country with a doing business guide).
Thank you for the suggestions!

Subject: Replacement for "Doing Business In..." series
Hello law-libbers,
We are looking for a replacement for the print series "Doing Business
In..." published by the former Price Waterhouse. The collection
includes titles such as "Doing business in the United States" and "Doing
business in Australia," and each title has information on the investment
climate, regulatory environment, taxation, etc for the country profiled.
Apparently PriceWaterhouseCoopers is no longer updating this series. I
have found similar titles published exclusively online, but I am
wondering if any of you know of a current print series that is similar.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help!
Anne
