seeks a Director of Library Services. The Director of Library Services
is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the library and ensuring
that it is functioning at the highest level and meeting the needs of
employees and clients.
Job Responsibilities
* Ensures the productiveness of the library operation
* Prepares annual budget and monitors expenses
* Facilitates the Firm's knowledge and content management projects
and develops areas to integrate library staff into these initiatives -
this is a critical component of the Director's job
* Makes staffing decisions, trains new library staff, reviews
performance of staff and evaluates workload
* Conducts orientation for new associates and legal assistants
* Provides Lexis/Westlaw and other database training for legal and
administrative staff
* Keeps abreast of new developments in the library field in
general and specific to the law industry and technology.
Job Requirements
* Master's degree in Library Science from an accredited library
school
* J.D. highly desirable
* Substantial understanding of knowledge and content management
systems; experience in initiating, overseeing or implementing them, and
integrating library staff into such initiatives
* 6+ years of professional law library managerial experience
* Corporate and legal research and reference skills, database
searching skills (Lexis, Internet, Westlaw, Factiva, Dialog, etc.),
excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to exceptional
client service
