Law Library Internships

Dear Colleagues,

The usual apologies for cross-posting.

I am writing on behalf of the Conference of Law Library Educators
(COLLE), a small group that meets once a year

at the AALL Annual Meeting. Our annual in-person meeting, plus
communications thoughout the year, provide a

forum for librarians and others who teach law librarianship and legal
research courses in graduate schools of library

and information science.

During October and November 2004 the COLLE sought to compile a list of
libraries willing to be a host site for a library internship / practicum
/ fieldwork experience. Information was solicited via postings to the
LAW-LIB, SLA-LAW, and LLAGNY list servs. The resulting list is found at
http://lib.law.washington.edu/colle/ under "Fellowships and Internships"
> "Internship Host Sites".

As part of the update process, I am re-posting my original request to
libraries that are not already on the list. If your library (public,
academic, law firm or special) is willing to host a student, please
contact me DIRECTLY (off list) and I will include your library in our
posting. Please note the following, which appears on the list posted at
the COLLE website:

"...the libraries on this list should be viewed as potential
hosts, to be contacted by interested students. No representation is made
as to either whether an institution will be available at a particular
point in time or whether the internship will be paid or for academic
credit."

Therefore, by being listed you are not promising to have an intern at
any particular time, just your willingness to be a possible host site.
Remember, one way to encourage future librarians to consider law
librarianship is to offer to have them work with us while doing an
internship / practicum / fieldwork experience. Please be sure to
include the name of a contact person. Thanks much!

Barbara
