Our client, one of the nation's most prestigious law firms, has an
opening for Director of Conflicts Services. This position will report
to the firm's executive director.

The Director of Conflicts Services is responsible for all aspects of
conflicts of interest activities related to clearing new business and
lateral hires. The director hires and supervises staff members and plays
an active role in building and searching the firm's conflicts database.
The director works closely with attorneys and the Conflicts Resolution
Committee in interpreting search reports and establishing policies and
procedures related to the department's objectives. The director
administers internal databases and selects commercial research tools to
be used by the department. The director will also work with practicing
attorneys to develop customized reports.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Oversees and coordinates the efforts of the conflicts
department in providing conflicts reports for all new clients and new
matters within the firm.

2. Oversees and coordinates the efforts of the conflicts
department in providing conflicts clearance reports for all project
assistants, paralegals, associates and partners.

3. Assists with the review and works with attorneys regarding
clearance of all project assistants, paralegals and associates conflicts
reports.

4. Works with the Conflicts Resolution Committee, as well as,
other attorneys to establish ethical wall/screens for the firm.

5. Provides conflicts orientation to all new project assistants,
paralegals and lateral associates.

6. Establishes procedures for maintaining the data integrity of
the conflicts database.

7. Responsible for the maintaining records of all waiver letters
and screens within the firm.

8. Assists attorneys with the review and interpretation of the
conflicts report data.

9. Studies current conflict of interests materials to stay abreast
of current trends and changes in the law.

10. Creates department administrative procedures to facilitate the
implementation of firm policy.

11. Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Juris Doctorate required. 2 to 5 years experience in legal and basic
corporate research, some experience and knowledge of rules of
professional responsibility and some management experience desired.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills, strong customer
service orientation, familiarity with full-text database searching and
online internet resources, knowledge of the rules of professional
responsibility (specifically conflicts of interest), knowledge of
database management.
