RE: Law360 Websites

One of my antitrust shareholders did a trial subscription to the
competitionlaw360 site - she fell deeply in love and wanted to get it.
Portfolio Media sent her an email at the expiration of her trial, telling
her that she could get an individual subscription for $390 a year or an
organizational subscription for $2900. Having never heard of this product,
and having already gotten our budget blessed for the year, we did not want
to shell out 3K, esp. since we already have some web subscriptions to very
good antitrust material. But I said I'd pay for her individual
subscription.

When I went to the web site I could see no link to an individual
subscription, only the 3K firm subscription. I called them and asked about
signing her up individually, and I was told by a CS rep that - oh sorry,
that was a mistake, thanks for bringing it to their attention, there is
actually no individual subscription to competitionlaw360. I was not
impressed.

And I don't like the marketing directly to the attorneys thing either.
Attorneys want every shiny new toy - if they play with a toy I haven't heard
of, they can't assume I'll let them keep it.

Subject: Law360 Websites

Does anyone have experience with the Law360 websites from Portfolio Media?
(I know there was a question about Bankruptcy Law360 a few weeks ago, but I
didn't see any replies to the list.) It looks like this group started
emailing their updates to many of our attorneys, and now we're getting
requests for the articles . . . which aren't free, of course. (I don't
think our attorneys signed up for these emails, because we started getting
requests from too many people . . . in too many departments . . . all at
about the same time. Grrrrrrr.) This group does 4 different websites --
bankruptcy, securities, IP and competition law. Each site is available to
an individual user for $790 per year. A firm-wide license for one topic is
available for the bargain price of $2900 per year. There's no price listed
for a firm-wide subscription to everything. Anyone have any words of
wisdom?

Thanks,
