I attended a CLE event today on intellectual property licensing. One of
the participants asked the speaker whether there was such a thing as a
licensing database that had information on patent licenses. The question
was in the context of how much the patent owner should ask for in
license negotiations.
The speaker didn't know of any kind of database, and asked if anyone in
the audience did. I told the group that I thought this type of
information is probably considered to be a trade secret most of the
time, but that traditional library and market research might turn up
some info.
In light of this question, does anyone have suggestions as to how to
research the value of a patent for licensing purposes?
Thank you very much.
