Death Penalty Treatise?

Good afternoon,

I have been asked to assemble an overview of the administration of the
death penalty in the United States, in particular the use of the
electrocardiograph (ECG or EKG) and the electroencephalograph (EEG) in
the monitoring of the process of execution and the determination of
actual death. Does anyone know of a treatise, article or other resource
related to this topic which may be useful? Any suggestions, however
remotely related, will be appreciated.

Thanks very much,
Emily Cunningham
