Re: Law-lib + ILL's

That was tried several years ago, and never really took off. As far as I
can figure, the main reason it didn't work is that law-lib had more subscribers
than the ILL list, and naturally when posting a message, people wanted to
post to the largest group in hopes of getting an answer. Then there's just
the fact that it's hard to break the habit, and there was no particular disincentive
to continue to post ILLs to law-lib.

Absent a moderator, one can only encourage
ILL's to go elsewhere, and that doesn't seem to work, and it's questionable
whether that's desirable.

I understand the usefulness of law-lib for ILLs,
though I also understand those that think the ILLs have gotten out of hand.
And there has been a mass exodus of librarians, at least the ones I know,
:-) off of law-lib because of large numbers of ILL messages.

But perhaps
the opposite would work. Instead of asking that the ILL messages to elsewhere,
maybe a list should be formed for those who want to discuss other issues relating
to law libraries. With Yahoo Groups, it's easy enough to do. The difficult
part is getting critical mass in terms of numbers of subscribers.

 Maybe this would help.
