The Weekly Review (Harper's) -- complied by Paul Ford -- seems to verify that story.

If its new to you, you should consider subscribing (free -- distributed by email) Sources are provided for every item, and the weekly list often includes things not reported by our "free" press/mainstream media.

This week's edition mentions Miers' remark -- though in a more general way than the "rumor" you may be hearing. The WR says "she has allegedly described Bush as 'brilliant' ".

Not much of a distinction, imho, if she actually said it. It would, I suppose, be evidence of another of the administration's attempting to fill high-level positions with loyal friends of questionable qualification.

Can any USA Law-Libber vouch for the accuracy of reports we are
getting in our daily press here in Australia that Harriet Miers has
        described George W. Bush
as "the most brilliant man (she) has ever met".

If these reports are true, and if the good lady truly believes that
assertion, ought not a big band be playing, "Don't Get Around Much
Anymore" as her theme tune ?

Just my two cents worth : - )
