Reference Librarian
Our client, a prestigious law firm, is seeking a reference librarian for
their DC location. This is a full-time direct hire position. The
successful candidate will provide research and reference service to the
Firm on legal, business, and general topics. Prepare subject
bibliographies, pathfinders, and usage guides on library resources.
Provide bibliographic instruction to the Firm regarding research
resources. Maintain research tips database and recommend additions to
the library collection. They will also conduct orientation tours of the
library for new employees, monitor regulatory sources as requested by
the attorneys. In addition, they will assist the Manager of Research
Services in the development of new service, provide research and
reference services to the remote offices as needed and participates in
collection maintenance activities.
The successful candidate MUST possess a Masters in Library Science and
2-4 years of previous law firm experience in a mid- to large-size law
firm. They will also possess substantive knowledge of extensive
electronic legal resources; including, but not limited to: Lexis,
Westlaw, CCH, Mealey, BNA, Hoovers, Factiva, etc. along with the ability
to use emerging technologies in the provision of research services. The
candidate must also possess analytical abilities sufficient to work
independently most of the time, yet be a strong member of the library
team. Strong ability to be well-organized, flexible, and work well
under pressure. Strong attention to detail. Requires excellent oral and
written communications skills.
