Our client, a global law firm, is seeking a dockets clerk to join their
Washington, DC team.

 

This position is responsible for maintaining the litigation calendar for
the office, reviewing pleadings for compliance with applicable court
rules, conducting research, and arranging for filing of documents with
the courts. Duties include processing incoming court mail (paper and
electronic), docketing relevant dates, running reports, answering
questions regarding court rules, utilizing various software applications
to obtain information about court cases, conducting research on
litigants and courts, completing electronic filings as needed,
coordinating the filing of pleadings and retrieval of document copies in
numerous courts, and monitoring filings and notifying related practice
groups of developments. Responsible for entering items on the Docket
System including any deadlines required by all federal, state and local
courts, as well as all federal, state, county and city agencies.

 

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent
work experience. Knowledge of court rules and filing procedures is
necessary. Basic PC skills are required and knowledge 2000 and MS
Office 2000 strongly preferred. Experience with CompuLaw or other
docketing/calendaring software preferred. Ability to track documents
through court system, court websites and CM/ECF to fulfill document copy
requests required. Candidate must have strong attention to details, the
ability to prioritize, and the desire to work in a fast-paced
environment. Candidate must have excellent communication skills, strong
organizational skills, and solid interpersonal skills. This position
performs time sensitive/critical work for attorneys under minimum
supervision and requires the candidate to exercise independence and
discretion.
