Our client, a prestigious law firm, is seeking a Senior Researcher to
join their Washington, DC library team.
The successful candidate will provide expert level research in a broad
range of subject areas to patrons of the firm's Library. They will be
responsible for legislative and regulatory research, compiling
legislative histories, general reference assistance and other public
service duties at the reference desk. Coordinate and provide off-site
research functions in conjunction with the Interlibrary Loan Researcher.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
* MLS or 10 years of comparable experience in a large law firm
environment.
* Experience in facilitating a library move.
* Demonstrated thorough knowledge of formal principles in library
science, including technical services, acquisitions, cataloging, and
serials.
* Expert knowledge of print and digital legal and business
resources and research techniques.
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills as necessary
to communicate, negotiate, advise, persuade, or resolve issues that are
complex in nature.
* Takes a positive and creative attitude towards research
assignments, the Library and challenging situations.
* Willingness to think and plan outside traditional library
paradigm.
* Business writing skills including knowledge of business English
as necessary to present information that requires some origination
and/or compilation.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, as necessary to work
productively with Director, Manager, colleagues and co-workers as a team
member and effectively with people of all levels.
* Ability to function as part of a team.
* Adapts well to a changing work environment.
* Available to work a flexible schedule on weekends or evenings
if needed.
* Arrives at work and ready to begin at appointed time and works
agreed upon hours.
