As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both
instances, there is a twilight when everything remains seemingly
unchanged. And it is in such twilight that we all must be aware of
change in the air however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of
the darkness.

A thread I see going on, even as I write, on <newlib-l> (I think)
suggests, from the experiences of recent graduates, is that the
shortage, at least for non-specialty librarians, is highly exagerated.

Several days ago a friend sent me an article that claimed that the
assertion that there is [or will be] a librarian shortage is a myth.
Today, in my copy of the "Law Librarians in the new millennium", I see
the claim that the shortage exist.
So, which is it? Those of you doing the hiring...do you see a shortage?
