Welcome to Newfoundland

The Programme Committee is counting the days now and we are all looking
forward to seeing you in St. John’s. We think there is no better way to start
the conference than with some Newfoundland lore. Please join us for the
Introductory Address at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15th when Dale Jarvis will
regale us with history, humour and traditional storytelling.

Dale Jarvis is a well known researcher, writer, and storyteller who is Heritage
Preservation Officer for the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and
Labrador and President of the Newfoundland Historic Trust. By night, he is
known as Reverend Thomas Wyckham Jarvis, Esq., and conducts walking
tours of ghostly sites and haunted houses dressed in period costume.
Attendees will be presented with a lively historical overview of St John's &
Newfoundland. Also, we will hear about the eclectic mix of traditional and
electronic research sources and oral histories that Dale uses to conduct his
work. A must-attend for everyone!

Programme Materials: We are doing something a little different this year.
Speakers’ materials will be posted on the conference website (some are
already there). There will be no printed materials in your registration bag.
Please be sure to visit the website and print those materials you want to have
at the conference.

See you soon!
