The University of Maine School of Law, Donald L. Garbrecht Law Library
is looking for a part-time, temporary, reference librarian. This
position is responsible for providing reference, bibliographic, and
online services to faculty, students, the legal community, and the
general public. The Reference Librarian works with the Reference staff
in development and maintenance of current awareness services to library
patrons and staff, including research workshops, bibliographic
instruction lectures, and computer-assisted legal research training;
conducts RLIN, Internet and other computer database searches; maintains
awareness of current legal events and keeps abreast of changes in legal
bibliography; and conducts library tours and user orientation sessions
to law students, undergraduates and other groups. Preference will be
given to candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge and skills:
Accredited J.D. and M.L.S. degrees (or equivalents) or Accredited M.L.S.
degree (or equivalent) with two years prior experience in a law library.
 Prior experience with automated library systems. Knowledge of
LEXIS-NEXIS and WESTLAW. Familiarity with RLIN or OCLC or similar
bibliographic databases. Familiarity with the Internet and its software
applications. Salary commensurate with experience.
