Are there any Brazilian or Portuguese Americans out there in library land?

This is my bizarre project of the week.
1. I need an example of a common Portuguese and/or Brazilian last name?
2. Recommendations of a good Portuguese American dictionary - web or
print? I have tried a few web dictionaries and the term I am looking
for was not there.

Please point me in the right direction.
