Hello, I am interested in hearing from the list about any methods used
to monitor the receipt of e-serials.
Currently, the San Francisco office library has a record in our serials
management software for each e-serial. A library assistant on the
distribution list updates the record in the serials system each time she
received an issue via e-mail. We would still like to monitor the receipt
of these e-serials but redirect the time spent doing this to more
value-added activities.
Innovative has an interesting product called "Serials E-Checkin" that
uses input from the serials vendors or e-journal publishers to
automatically record checkin transactions (product info:
http://www.iii.com/pdf/lit/eng_echeckin.pdf). Although the ILS we are
currently implementing, EOS, doesn't support this technology yet, I
would be very interesting in hearing from anyone using the Innovative
product.
I will compile any answers I receive for the group.
Thank you,
Sheila Chatterjee
