TECHNICAL SERVICES DIRECTOR
Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University seeks a
Technical Services Director for its law library. The Technical Services
Director will manage all aspects of technical services, including
bibliographic access and control (cataloging with an emphasis on
electronic resources, classification, authority control, database
maintenance), acquisitions, physical processing, serials receipt and
maintenance, government documents, statistical reports, and representing
the law library in campus, regional, and national associations. This
position collaborates with other librarians on collection development.
Depending on the candidate's skills and interests, there may be
participation in the reference rotation or instructional activities.
The Technical Services Director will instruct and supervise one
full-time and one part-time librarian, three full-time library
assistants, and several student workers. This position reports to the
Law Library Director and assists the Law Library Director in
administration of the library.
Qualifications: MLS or equivalent from an ALA-approved program; three
years technical services experience; working knowledge of OCLC, AACR2,
MARC, LC classification; demonstrated supervisory ability; strong
service orientation; good communications skills; flexibility;
creativity; and initiative.
Preference will be given to candidates with a J.D. degree or familiarity
with legal materials, experience in a law or academic library, and
experience with the Innovative Interfaces automated system.
