Thanks to all who responded! Here are the results:
1. You can set it up as an Eclipse, searching on a daily, business
daily, weekly, or monthly basis for that patent application number (or
name, or applicant, or whatever) along with "status date" as a field.
When the status changes, you'll get a hit for your Eclipse report. Cost
is $17 daily, &21 weekly, $27 monthly.
2. I think that micropatent/trademark.com allows tracking but I'm
unsure of the cost
3. Have you tried the PAIR system on the USPTO website? It doesn't have
an automatic search feature but it is easily searchable by application
number. It is how we check the status for our pending applications. The
URL is : http://portal.uspto.gov/external/portal/pair (A couple people
suggested this)
4. Our attorneys use Delphion, now under the Thomson umbrella. They
have many different pricing options, so I'm not sure I can tell you how
much an "alert" will actually cost. If you only have a premier sub. I
think they are $20.00 each! But if you have an unlimited sub. they are
free, of course you pay more for the unlimited subs and if you don't
have attorneys downloading multiple copies of patents that probably
wouldn't work for you.
5. Assuming the application is US, you could run a weekly search --
manually or automatically -- on the priority/application number in
Questel.Orbit's USPAT database until the grant shows up; OR, if it isn't
time-critical or the app is not US, you could run the weekly search in
PlusPat. I'd be happy to give you a call to provide more detail about
our databases, search system, patent delivery service, and productivity
tools.
6. I just spoke with a Dialog rep today. You can do that
through them.
