I sent this message last night, but it did not go through. Pardon me if it
is duplicated.
A professor here has asked me to find the exact source of a quotation that
is attributed to James Monroe. The quotation is:
"The question to be asked at the end of an educational step is not 'What has
the student learned?' but 'What has the student become?'"
I have found numerous sources that attribute this quotation to Monroe, but
nothing that cites a source. I have searched quotation books, the internet,
Westlaw, Lexis, legal and non-legal periodicals, the writings of Monroe,
etc.
I would be very grateful if anyone could assist me. Thank you.
