A colleague at Seattle University, Kara Phillips, and I wonder if any of
you in academic law libraries whose state bar CLE materials are available
through Loislaw have run into the problem we have found? We cannot access
all our state's bar materials available through Loislaw. They are not, a
notice informs us, part of our subscription.
We knew that the arrangement for law school faculty/students/librarian
Loislaw access did not cover the Aspen treatises. One can look at the
table of contents and actually do a search in them (and even get a hit
list), but we cannot look at the text itself. But, both of us thought that
we remembered that all the Washington State Bar Association Deskbooks and
the Washington State Bar Association CLE materials were available under
our academic access.
As we checked, it appeared that all of the older deskbooks and CLEs were
available, but SOME of the more recent were not. When my colleague called
to find out whether this was a change in access, or whether our
recollections of full access were wrong, the Loislaw representative was
unable to answer her question.
Have other states whose bar materials are on Loislaw run into access
problems? It may be, of course, that the bar itself has limited access,
but we wondered what the experience in other states has been.
Thanks for your help!
Nancy
