Not sure if this is old news to some law-lib subscribers. Please
forgive me if you already know about this, but I don't think many of us
on this side of the pond do.

While attending the British and Irish Association of Law Libraries
(BIALL) conference this summer, I heard about the Cardiff Index,
produced by the Law Library at the University of Cardiff, Wales, team
leader Peter Clinch. This amazing resource, which won the BIALL
prize for "best new legal resource" this year, can be accessed at:

http://www.legalabbrevs.cardiff.ac.uk/

Here's the blurb:

"This web-based service allows you to search for the meaning of
abbreviations for English language legal publications, from the British
Isles, the Commonwealth and the United States, including those
covering international and comparative law. A selection of major
foreign language law publications is also included. The database
mainly covers law reports and law periodicals, but some legislative
publications and major textbooks are also included. The Index is still
under development.."

Another neat thing is the that you can click on a title and you will see
other serial-type info, like the ISSN, frequency, "continues" and
"continued by" titles, etc., to the extent they could find this info.

I am sure you will agree that this is a super resource for all of us,
particularly because of its range of non-U.S. common law
abbreviations!
