Question on Canadian Correspondence

Happy Monday Everyone!

Here is an interesting question. When corresponding with attorneys in the
United States, it is a common practice of respect to include "Esq." or
"Esquire" in the salutation (e.g., Dear John Doe, Esquire).

Does anyone know if there is some similar practice in Canada and what the
terminology might be?

Thanks in Advance,

Subject: OFAC Filter recommendations?

I sent this question to the list a month or so again and didn't receive any
responses. I thought I would try one more time (I'm sorry for the
duplication for those who saw if the 1st time).

I have been asked to recommend an OFAC Filter. If any of you have
recommendations or experience with an OFAC Filter, I would appreciate
hearing your thoughts. Please respond to me directly. I will be happy to
summarize for the list.

Background info: The Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) maintains a
list of name of persons and entities whose assets are blocked by the Treas.
Dept. When conducting a financial transaction (ex.: loan), the transaction
must be stopped immediately if the person is listed at
http://www.treas.gov/offices/eotffc/ofac/sdn/index.html
<http://www.treas.gov/offices/eotffc/ofac/sdn/index.html> . There are
programs that will interface with a financial company's database for the
purpose of making sure that there it not a name match to the list. I am
looking for a filter that will ignore false matches. For example, once we
establish that the John Doe at 1234 Morning Glory Circle, Jacksonville, New
York, with SSN 123-45-6789 is NOT the same as the "John Doe" on the list, we
would like the program to ignore the match EVERY time we work with Mr. Doe
of Jacksonville's File.

I appreciate any advice that you might have.

Thank you
Colleen
