Job Announcement
Title: Law Library Director
Description: The Law Library Director provides leadership for the
effective integration of appropriate information resources and technologies
into instructional and bibliographic services. This position is responsible
for the efficient operation of the law school's Library and Technology
Center (LTC) which is charged with the acquisition, organization, and
utilization of information resources in a wide variety of formats. We are
looking for someone who can inspire the best in others, facilitate positive
group dynamics, and help propel a nimble and agile institution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership and general administration of the law library,
including budgeting, planning, and policy-making. Develop services,
collections, and facilities.
2. Provide short-term and long-term planning for implementation of
technology within the library and the law school. Develop appropriate
instructional methods and training opportunities for law school faculty,
students, and staff optimizing the use of library resources and technology.
3. Participate in the law school instructional program and coordinate
with the Legal Research and Writing Director.
4. Plan and implement external relations and outreach programs to
expand the role of the Library and Technology Center in the Jacksonville
community.
5. Report regularly to the Dean, the Vice Dean, and the Board of
Trustees regarding the current status and projected operations of the LTC.
Skills/Qualifications:
ALA-accredited MLS and ABA-accredited JD
Significant post-MLS law library administrative experience, preferably as a
director
Demonstrated supervisory, leadership, and advocacy skills
Knowledge of budget management
Significant experience in law library collection development
Strong teaching skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively with law faculty on teaching and scholarship
Knowledge of current library practices, and vision for the future of law
libraries
Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
