The SR-SIS Standing Committee on Library Service to Institution Residents
(e.g., prisoners) has two events planned for AALL in Boston 2004. Please
join us and please spread the word to your colleagues who may be
interested.
(1) Monday July 12th 7am -7:45am: Business Meeting of the SR-SIS Standing
Committee on Library Service to Institution Residents (hosted by current
Chair, Rebecca Trammell) in Sheraton Exeter Room (A).
Discuss possible projects:
** creating website with information on donating books to prison law
libraries.
** updating the publication, Recommended Collections for Prison and
Other Institution Law Libraries & Guidelines for Prison Law Libraries
(1996 ed.)
** Survey of prison law libraries - what are they doing after Casey
v. Lewis, 518 U.S. 343 (1996)?
(2) Monday July 12th 5:15-6:15pm: SR, LISP, and RIPS Joint Roundtable on
Service to Pro Se Patrons and Prisoners held in HCC (Hynes Convention
Center) Room 204.
** Share strategies for handling research or document delivery
requests from prisoners.
** Tips on drafting a policy for your library.
** Referrals to other law libraries or legal clinics
