Faulkner University, Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, Montgomery, Alabama, invites applications and nominations for the tenure-track position of Director of the Law Library. A review of applications will continue until the position is filled.

An applicant must have the J. D. and M. L. S. degrees from nationally accredited programs and have significant management experience in a law library, preferably a library of a law school approved by the American Bar Association.

The Director of the Law Library is the chief administrative officer in the law library, reports directly to the Dean, supervises the professional librarians and other members of the library staff, plans and oversees development of the collection, participates in the budgeting process and oversees the library's expenditures, negotiates reciprocal borrowing agreements with other libraries, participates in professional library associations, stays informed of new technologies and procedures by an ongoing review of professional publications, works with the Director of Development in raising funds for the library, collaborates with University library administrators, and has other responsibilities typical of those of a director of a law school library. As a voting member of the law faculty, the Director of the Law Library teaches, attends faculty meetings, works on faculty committees, and participates in strategic planning and the self-study connected with applying for approval by the American Bar Association.

Jones School of Law was established in Montgomery in 1928, and has been a part of Faulkner University since 1983. Faulkner University is a Christian university supported primarily by members of Churches of Christ. Jones is a dual-division law school, and offers classes in the evenings for part-time students.

Graduates of Jones take the Alabama bar examination and practice in the state. However, the University and the law school are preparing to seek approval by the American Bar Association. The Dean is fully informed as to the Standards and Rules of Procedure for the Approval of Law Schools by the American Bar Association. The Administration and the Dean are determined to devote all necessary resources and in other respects to take all necessary steps to present a program of legal education that will qualify for approval by the American Bar Association. Of course, the law school makes no representation that it will be approved by the American Bar Association prior to any specific date.
