Fred,
Not to hound you when you've apologized, but purely for your interest and
others: Mother Teresa joined the Sisters of Loretto--an Irish order--in 1928
when she was eighteen, had a few months' training in Ireland, and was sent
to India, where she spent the remainder of her life. One has to wonder if
Hitchens has any real evidence of "ties" more meaningful than maintaining
contact with her family, and raising money for her mission from anyone and
everyone who could be persuaded or shamed into donating.

Subject: Apology to Mother Teresa's Memory
A couple of people have e-mailed me questioning my assertion of Mother
Teresa's having connections to Nazism. Looking into the matter a little
further, it appears to me that I was probably wrong in stating this.
Christopher Hitchens has written about MT having close ties with fascistic
and Stalinist elements in Albania in the post-war era, but I have not been
able to verify specific ties to Nazism. It may be that if I did a lot of
digging I would come up with something along these lines, but since I
don't want to do that I better just repudiate all allegations of such
specific ties.
