Reference/Faculty Services Librarian
The Wiener-Rogers Law Library at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas
invites applications for the position of Reference/Faculty Services
Librarian. The Library seeks a personable, energetic, and motivated
individual who will provide service-oriented reference and research
assistance to faculty, students and other patrons.
Responsibilities: The Reference/Faculty Services Librarian provides service-oriented
reference and research assistance to faculty, students and other patrons
of the Wiener-Rogers Law Library (some evening and weekend hours
required); coordinates and participates in the library's faculty liaison
program including but not limited to managing complex research projects,
preparing detailed, annotated bibliographies and authoring guides;
contributes content to web pages that describe faculty services;
supervises and trains student research assistants; actively promotes
faculty services through one-on-one meetings, brown bag sessions, and
attendance at faculty lectures and programs; participates in evaluation
and selection of library materials; conducts library tours; coordinates
student and faculty training in the use of electronic research tools;
coordinates Westlaw and Lexis activities and acts as liaison with the
Westlaw and Lexis representatives; provides instruction as a part of the
Advanced Legal Research course and in a variety of other capacities;
serves on law library, law school, and university committees; and performs
other public service duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution and
JD from an ABA-accredited institution are strongly preferred, however
relevant and directly related experience may be considered in lieu of one
of the degrees. Must have sound knowledge of legal materials and legal
research methodology including Lexis, Westlaw, and Internet resources.
Strong service orientation, ability to work well independently and with
others. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
Salary: This is a tenure-track, twelve-month academic faculty position at Rank II.
Position is contingent upon funding. Salary is commensurate with labor
market. Salary range is $45,750 to $50,000.
