State employees subject to promotion/demotion policy.

Essential Functions: Responsible for library technology applications which
includes automated library system, network, software/hardware support and
all electronic media services. Trouble shoots library application modules
and modifies the system to accommodate requests from users, and negotiates
support from the library's automation vendor. Negotiates with library
Information Systems vendors on product availability and costs and prepares
annual operating budget request for all library automation services and
applications. Participates in the development and maintenance of the
library's web site. Organizes and conducts training programs for library,
court and public users in the use of library computers, electronic
resources and applications. Provides legal and general reference/research
assistance to all customers using print and electronic resources. Oversees
all web based and manual Inter-library Loan services.

Education: Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS) from an A.L.A.
accredited graduate school.

Experience: Three (3) years of reference/research experience in a library
environment to include familiarity with legal information resources.

Preferred: Coursework in information systems. Experience with the library
system developed by Innovated Interfaces and working within a Windows
NT/2000 Environment. Knowledge of digital library concepts, advances in
electronic publishing and creating knowledge bases.

Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate
technical issues to colleagues, library customers and vendors.
Demonstrated ability and experience in user training, both individual and
group instruction. Ability to understand and manage databases, networks
and electronic information resources. Skill in interviewing library
customers to ascertain their needs and ability to communicate accurate,
timely and appropriate responses. Ability to perform all essential
functions of the position.
