summary: retention of tax pams

Hello Everyone,

Thanks to all who responded to my query about the fate of older CCH and
RIA tax pamphlets and other such material (e.g. Master Tax Guides, Field
Guides). The general consensus was that they had value, but the
decisions on how to manage varied. Your responses will help to inform my
decision.

Here are the responses:
-quite a few libraries had the same question !
-some thought they were a real treasure when a legislative history was
needed and would hold on to them if space allowed. (handy format better
than USCCAN, online, etc.) Good for background info.
- some keep just the analysis ones and toss the committee prints and
reports.
-a few keep only the current year; not worth keeping for the space and
handling required.
-some law firms bind copies of certain items for desk copies for
attorneys
- a couple of libraries wanted whatever I had!

Looks as if somebody ought to be keeping these; but who in your area?

Thanks again,

Anita
