Saturday, July 10 * 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Level: Introductory Full day
Competency: Collection Care and Management
Target Audience: Library directors, department heads or any other staff
member responsible for writing grant applications with little or no grant

Learning Outcomes:
1. Participants will choose and prepare a grant proposal properly,
evaluating appropriate funding sources and project preparation
2. Participants will write a polished grant proposal using appropriate
grant terminology, and develop an accompanying budget.
Sharing libraries with the world through the Internet requires funding. This
workshop focuses on the research, preparation and writing phases of the
grant proposal process. Participants will learn about tools to help identify
sources of funding and create a strong proposal package. The development of
various components of a proposal will also be covered, including the
statement of need, preparing a timeline, outlining project objectives or
outcomes, detailing project activities, preparing and presenting a clear
budget, and outlining evaluation plans. Participants will write a grant
proposal incorporating all three phases: research, preparation and writing.
