I think it's unfortunate that the SR-SIS' program was not selected. As
for the program that was selected, I don't see how a "Hot Topics"
program could have but one speaker presenting one point of view, as
interesting as it may be. The "Hot Topics" program has in the past tried
to present conflicting points of view on the selected topic in the
nature of a debate. The American occupation of Iraq is certainly a hot
topic, but for the program to really work in the intended format, there
should also be a speaker taking a critical perspective on the continued
American occupation and the Americanization of Iraqi laws.

Perhaps the committee would consider running both programs.
