And we must not forget that many libraries "split" their attendance. In
other words, some of the library staff go to AALL and the others go to SLA.
That way, everyone gets a chance to go to a conference and the library is
still staffed during the conferences. Combining the two means that not
everyone in those libraries will be able to attend.

What would "combining the two conferences" mean? It's hard enough as
it is to work out the logistics for scheduling AALL SIS and committee
meetings, and the competition for program slots is fierce. How would
