Western New England College School of Law Library seeks an energetic,
creative librarian for the position of Head of Research Services.
Available immediately.
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean for Library and Information
Resources and the Associate Director, the Head of Research Services
plans, organizes, directs, and promotes the Research Services operations
including research, interlibrary loan, and computer applications. The
Head of Research Services provides research and informational services
to faculty, students, the local bench and bar, and the public; instructs
students and faculty in the use of LexisNexis, Westlaw and other
databases to which the library subscribes; acts as liaison to the Office
of Information Technology; coordinates LexisNexis and Westlaw services;
and assists in materials selection. The Head of Research Services
prepares library publications and displays, and participates in the Law
School's webpage development.
Required: Knowledge of current law library service, organization,
procedures, equipment and technologies including library computer
applications to enhance library services required. Strong
interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Ability to deal
effectively with the general public and work as part of a team.
Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution
and a J.D. from an ABA-accredited institution required. A minimum of
two years experience as a professional librarian in a reference
position.
