The AALL Fair Business Practice Guide
Part 7
This is the seventh in a series of ten emails explaining and discussing The AALL Guide to Fair Business Practices for Legal Publishers.
The Guide was designed with the purpose of fostering good business practices on the part of publishers by encouraging 5 basic principles.
In our last email we discussed Principle 4 of the guide- "Customer Satisfaction." Principle 5 covers "Product Quality." Publishers should create products capable of withstanding reasonable use.
● Hardcover, softcover, softcover supplemental materials and loose-leaf materials should meet the appropriate ANSI/NISO standards.
● Microforms should follow standards established by the National Archives and Records Administration.
・瘢雹 Electronic publications should be tested first, and include uninstall directions. All documentation should be understandable and indicate expiration dates, including date/number of release.
・瘢雹 Audio/visual materials should be playable on equipment meeting industry standards.
・瘢雹 Replacements should be obtainable at a low or reasonable cost. Replacement procedures should be widely publicized.
For more information about Principle 5, take a look at either your paper copy of the guide, or the online version at http://www.aallnet.org/about/fair_practice_guide.asp.
In our next email we will review the five basic principles.
