Hi all,
I have a tough question (at least I think so) that I was hoping someone
could make some suggestions on how to answer it. I am trying to find when a
large corporation (International Paper) acquired two small companies (SEPCO
and PAPCO). SEPCO was incorporated in Alabama in 1946 under a different
name and subsequently went through 2 name changes before it eventually
merged with PAPCO in 1982. PAPCO was the surviving company. I have
searched International Paper SEC filings (1980 - 1983) for mention of PAPCO
or SEPCO. I have all of the Incorporation, name change, and merger records
for SEPCO (no mention of International Paper) from Alabama. The Mobile
County, Alabama (where SEPCO and PAPCO were located) records office does not
have any records of International Paper in the timeframe we are looking at.
I have searched news, financial filings, Secretary of State filings, case
law, GSI/LiveEdgar and OneSource trying to find anything on these companies.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions regarding corporate history and
how to find when a parent acquires a subsidiary?
Thanks so much!
