Yes. Small is often better. Whenever we can, we use a small book jobber,
Business First Books, instead of ordering directly from publishers. The
orders are filled correctly, the invoices makes sense and in 3 years I
haven't had any problems.

Subject: Big isn't alway (is it ever??) better
I placed an order with a small law book publisher (this time it was
Decision
Books) about 3 days ago and the complete shipment arrived today with no
fuss, no price shock, no mistakes, no lengthy invoice with small print
on front and back. In addition, not only were there excellent
communications with customer service staff when I had questions, but I
got a healthy library discount on the titles I ordered. The transaction
began and ended neatly and I don't need to add another file to my fast
growing Publisher Questions and Problems pile, which not surprisingly is
made up almost entirely of "merged" publishers.
Could someone remind me again why mergers in the publishing world are
good things?
With deep sighs on this gorgeous Pacific Northwest Friday, Laura
P.S. Decision Books has a wonderful guide on Contract Lawyering, which
has gotten excellent reviews from our many of our attorneys who
free-lance.
