I am a new law-libber and a new law librarian. I have been lurking on the list for about a month now and have seen some really helpful advice dispensed, so I am hoping that someone out there might be able to help me with this question:
I recently saw a manual and interactive cd-rom called Hennen's Public Library Planner in Neal-Schuman Publisher's catalog of books for libraries. The catalog described this as a structured tool for your public library's planning process. It is supposed to cover all key areas of library development - budgeting, governance and administration, electronic services, collection development, technology access, facilities, staffing and personnel. It has reference tables to help evaluate the library's needs for FTE staffing, collection holdings, hours of operation, and material expenditures, and the companion cd-rom is supposed to calculate many of these numbers for your particular library. It really sounded wonderful, but it was obviously designed specifically for public libraries. Does anyone out there know of a similar, modestly priced tool that would be suitable for use in an academic law library? Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
