RE: Lexis gift - call me old fashioned

Colleagues,

Maybe some of you don't remember the days when Lexis had trouble
recognizing the importance of our profession (it was their policy --
whether stated or otherwise -- that they dealt primarily with attorneys
on training and selling issues). The establishment of the Library
Relations Group was a major step forward and I know how hard they work
to keep us informed. It's not about the gift, folks! It's about their
work and ours.

If a human being gives me a gift, I say thank you, but if a
multinational corporation sends me (and thousands of others) a
logo-encrusted, mass-produced, deductible-as-a-business-expense gift
that looks like a roach clip, I make fun of it.
