In the spirit of greedy little children this time of year, I want it ALL
and I want it NOW!!!
Westlaw has the US Code Annotated General Index in addition to the Table of
Contents touted by Lexis. But neither company does the index for the CFR
(and Lexis is even the publisher of the commercial print version).
I know that the big deal in the 1970's was the ability to search full text
without relying on commercially edited indexing. BUT. . . sometimes it
helps to focus your search or narrow your results if you can browse an
index.
While my professional background is not one in which I would would have
been caught trying to beef up electronic resources so I could cancel print,
my private library commercial setting finds me now doing just that. It's
hard to sell attorneys and staff on electronic alternatives if those
sources don't provide the same basic functionality.
Oh well I haven't had a rant for awhile. Please excuse.
