I am preparing a synopsis on resources for federal regulations research. I
had been carefully checking the coverage on Lexis by searching for a
regulation I knew had just appeared in the Federal Register this month. I
had always thought Lexis did not update the "annual" versions with the new
regs. But when I searched under the CFR for this reg, it indicates in the
history the November Fed. Reg. cite with a link. This particular title of
the CFR is updated each year as of October.
As a double check on myself, I looked at the Zimmerman's Guide on the CFR
topic. Zimmerman says that the electronic versions provided by GPO and
Lexis use the same update schedule as the print but that Westlaw integrates
new final regs throughout the year. I also seem to remember that LoisLaw
does this as well. It seems that the statement about Lexis is inaccurate
(I went back and tried a different search and had the same results).
My two questions:
Am I correct about the Lexis update schedule for CFR that it now
incorporates new regs as they become final (and does anyone know how
long it takes for the new material to be integrated)?
If someone from Lexis is monitoring this list, will Lexis make a
concerted effort to have the information in Zimmerman's Guides updated
to reflect current practice?
Thanks,
