Recent CRIV was asked to address the issue of unsolicited shipments from
Thomson/RIA. CRIV contacted Maureen Larkin, Sr. Product Manager at RIA, for
more information about RIA's subscriber policies. RIA has asked CRIV to
post the following information:
"RIA occasionally ships timely, high-demand products directly to customers
to expedite delivery and facilitate quick review; these are always
accompanied by a cover letter with an explanation of why the product has
been sent, return instructions and a post-paid return label.
We always attempt to be sensitive to the special requirements of libraries.
As such, we make every effort to suppress libraries from these mailings.
However, sometimes these are sent to individuals or institutions who do not
wish to receive products in this manner. If any of your members prefer to be
excluded from future mailings of this type, they can simply notify RIA of
that wish by contacting us at 800.431.9025 (select option 2) or
customer_services@riag.com <mailto:customer_services@riag.com>. It would be
helpful if they can provide their RIA customer number. We will gladly remove
them from subsequent shipments."
