Try the U.S. Department of State's "Presidential visits abroad". I think it lists both official and nonofficial visits ( www.state.gov/r/pa/ho/trvl/pres).

The Sunday (11/16/03) "New York Times," in the "Week in Review" section, has this line in an article about President Bush's visit this week to Great Britain:
"... the trip is taking the form of a pomp-and-circumstance-filled state visit, the first ever
by an American president."
Is this accurate. Is this the "first ever" state visit to Great Britain by an American president?
It doesn't sound likely. But I can't find information about formal state visits. Can someone suggest a source I can turn to.
