Cross-posted, apologies for duplication.
This is maybe an unusual question for the list, but I hope it won't be too
much off topic. I'm sure there are more than a few librarians out there with
electronic handheld organizers. Since I am thinking of joining the 20th
century and getting one, I'd be very interested to hear from other
librarians about their experiences. Please respond to me directly
(ccurling@hotmail.com) rather than the list. If there is interest, I will
happy to summarize for the list. If you'd prefer that your comments be
anonymous, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your advice and
perspective!
The Questions:
First, was your handheld provided by your employer? What about your job
justifies that? Travel?
Whether it was provided by the office or not, what do you have and why did
you end up with that particular brand or model?
Do you have an older handheld or is yours brand new? Is it the only one
you've had?
Have you ever lost all your information?
What do you like or dislike about what you have?
Do you use only the basic features (contacts, calendar) or do you use all
the bells and whistles?
Have you added any software or peripherals (like a fold-out keyboard)?
Have you ever lost your handheld? (This is my biggest fear about getting
one. I can cope with losing a $10 calendar that I've written my life into,
but losing a 300 or 400 dollar handheld scares the lights out of me.)
How much of your use of it is for work? For personal stuff?
Any other thoughts or comments on handhelds that you'd like to share would
be very welcome.
Thanks again for your thoughts on this - Cindy
